Data Privacy Policy

Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in Swiss Mergers and Acquisitions and our services. In order for you to feel safe and comfortable when visiting our website, we take the protection of your personal data and its confidential treatment very seriously.

With these notes on data protection, we would, therefore, like to inform you about when we store which data and for what purpose we use it – of course in compliance with the applicable data protection regulations.

If you have any further questions regarding the handling of your personal data, please do not hesitate to contact our Corporate Data Protection Officer, whose contact details you will find below.

The constant technological development, changes to our services or the legal situation as well as other reasons may require adjustments of our data protection information. We, therefore, reserve the right to change this data protection declaration at any time and ask you to inform yourself regularly about the current status.

Basic information

Unless otherwise stated in the following sections, no personal data is collected, processed or used when using our websites.

When you access our Internet pages, our web servers automatically collect information of a general nature. This includes the type of web browser, the operating system used, the domain name of the Internet service provider, the IP address of the computer used, the website from which you are visiting us, the pages you visit on our website and the date and duration of your visit.

This data cannot be used by us to identify the individual user. The information is only statistically evaluated by us and used exclusively to improve the attractiveness, content and functionality of our websites.

Legal basis

The collection, processing and use of the applicant data to carry out the application procedure via our applicant portal is in the legitimate interest of Swiss Mergers and Acquisitions in accordance with Article Paragraph 1 lit. f of the DSGVO. The interests, fundamental rights and freedoms of the applicants do not outweigh the first-mentioned interests.

The same applies to the transfer of your data within the Swiss Mergers and Acquisitions for answering and forwarding inquiries.

Definition of personal data

The EU Data Protection Basic Regulation (DSGVO), which will enter into force in May 2018, defines personal data as follows:

All information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (hereinafter referred to as the “data subject”); a natural person is considered identifiable if he or she can be identified directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, identification number, location data, online identifier or to one or more specific characteristics, the expression of the physical, physiological, genetic, psychological, economic, cultural or social identity of that person.

Collection and processing of personal data

Personal data is only collected if you provide it on your own initiative, for example, to carry out a contract, a survey, a competition or to register for personalised services. There you will be informed about the intended processing purpose and, if necessary, asked for your consent to the storage.

The personal data collected within the scope of our web pages will only be used without your consent for the purposes of order processing or processing of your enquiries and will be passed on to the responsible group company if necessary. In addition, your data can be used based on your consent in a centrally managed customer and prospect database managed under the responsibility of Swiss Mergers and Acquisitions. The use of this data is restricted to advertising and market and opinion research purposes and is exclusively possible for Swiss Mergers and Acquisitions within Switzerland. You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future.

Your data is encrypted before transmission and processing to protect it from unauthorized access. Please note that unencrypted e-mails are not transmitted in an access-protected manner.

Your data will not be sold, rented or made available to third parties in any way other than as described here. Personal data will only be transmitted to state institutions and authorities within the framework of mandatory national legal provisions. Our employees, agencies and dealers are bound by us to strictest confidentiality.

Contact

You can contact us via our e-mail address or the contact form. Of course, we will only use the transmitted personal data for the purpose for which you provide it to us when contacting us.

If we request information via our contact form that is not required for contacting us, we have always indicated this as optional. This information will help us to clarify your enquiry and improve the handling of your request. This information is provided on a voluntary basis and with your consent. If this information relates to communication channels (e. g. e-mail address, telephone number), you further agree that we may also contact you via this communication channel in order to answer your request.

Of course, you can revoke this consent at any time for the future. For this purpose, please contact our Group Data Protection Officer whose contact details you will find below.

Applications

You can apply online at Swiss Mergers and Acquisitions. Your online application will be forwarded directly to the HR department via an encrypted connection and will, of course, be treated confidentially. We will, of course, use your details exclusively for the processing of your application and will not pass them on to third parties outside the company.

For further information on data processing within the scope of the application procedure, please refer to the data protection declaration of our application portal. If you have applied for a specific position and it has already been filled, or if we consider you to be suitable for another position or even better, we would be happy to forward your application within the company. Please let us know if you do not agree to a forwarding. Your personal data will be deleted immediately upon completion of the application process or after a maximum of 6 months unless you have expressly given us your consent for a longer storage of your data.

Please note that we only offer the applicant portal for applications. Should you nevertheless apply to us by e-mail, we expressly point out that e-mail attachments are not encrypted.

Data transfer

As a matter of principle, your data will not be transferred to third parties outside Swiss Mergers and Acquisitions, unless we are obliged to do so by law, unless the transfer of data is required to carry out the contractual relationship, or you have given your express prior consent to the transfer of your data. External service providers and partner companies will only receive your data if this is necessary for the processing of your enquiry. In these cases, however, the amount of data transmitted is limited to the minimum required. Insofar as our service providers come into contact with your personal data, we ensure that they comply with the provisions of the data protection laws in the same way. Please also note the respective data protection information of the providers. The respective service provider is responsible for the contents of external services, whereby we carry out a check of the services for compliance with the legal requirements within the scope of reasonableness.

Google Tag Manager

For reasons of transparency we would like to point out that we use the Google Tag Manager. The Google Tag Manager does not collect any personal data itself. The Tag Manager makes it easier for us to integrate and manage our tags. Tags are small code elements that are used to measure traffic and visitor behaviour, measure the impact of online advertising and social channels, set up remarketing and targeting, test and optimize websites. We use the Tag Manager for the Google Analytics and GA Audience services. If you’ve made a deactivation, Google Tag Manager will take this into account. For more information about the Google Tag Manager, see:

So-called social bookmarks (e. g. from Facebook and Xing) are not integrated on our website.
